We’ve just opened two roles — a Junior Full-Stack (front-end leaning) and a Full-Stack Developer — to join our growing team.

Last week we passed the 1 million hectare milestone — that's over 11.4% of England’s farmland now on our platform, less than two years since launch. That progress has only been possible because of the brilliant team of software developers we already have, and now we’re looking for more to join them.

🌍🌾🧑💻 At Soil Benchmark, we’re building cutting-edge geospatial software that makes it quicker and easier to create the farm management plans that help restore healthy soils and clean rivers across the UK. Since launching our platform less than two years ago, we've signed up more than 11% of England's farmland and we're only just getting started.

🚀Benjamin and I started building Soil Benchmark three years ago, but it was only in November 2023 that we launched the platform. Our initial focus was on making it quick and easy for farmers and their advisors (agronomists) to create Soil Management Plans 🪱. This quickly took off as the government's new 'Sustainable Farming Incentive' required tens of thousands of farms to have them.

‍Henry joined us pre-launch, and has since moved from Lead Developer to become our CTO 🚀. Within six months of launching we were profitable and Sabrina came on board, swapping medicine 🩺 for code.

Our users then asked us to go further — to become a one-stop shop for all farm management plans. We raised an over-subscribed investment round at the end of 2024, hired Grace, Richard and Chandrasekhar, and have since delivered modules for manure 💩 and then fertiliser 🧪 management. Last week we hit a big milestone of 1 million hectares signed up.

Next up is pesticide management 🐛 which you’ll help us release, followed by a pipeline of features and analytics that farmers and advisors are already asking for.
